Safety (Internal ) Auditor Training


Formerly called Internal Auditor Training: This three-day safety auditor training course is designed for those who will be evaluating the effectiveness of their company health and safety program. Program audits are a very cost-effective method of measuring existing management systems. In this program, you will learn how quality audits reduce risk through a systems approach that maintains a focus on accident reduction.

Participants will have structured class activities during each morning of the three days.  Afternoons are intended to be used to work on their “student” audit which must be completed within 2 weeks of the last day of the course.

  • The Audit Process


  • The Audit Document and Workshop

    • Documentation

    • Observational tour

    • Interviews



  • Writing Quality Comments

  • Auditor Executive Summary Report

  • NSNY Quality Assurance

  • Written Exam

In addition to the above topics, participants must also complete and submit an internal audit within 2 weeks of the last day of the course.

Pre-requisite Course: Principles of Health and Safety Management (PHSM)

Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) requires a computer with stable internet access, audio/visual capabilities, and quiet learning space. You will receive an invite by email from the instructor 1-2 days prior to the course. An NSNY staff member will contact you to either arrange for pick up or to have the course materials emailed to you.
