Description

This 3 hour (half day) course gives participants the skills to travel in bear country as safe as possible while working in bear territory. It is focussed on those who work in the industrial sector – such as exploration camps, and mines; but would be valuable to anyone travelling or working in bear country. Safety in Bear Country – Industrial is designed to offer practical knowledge about bears including:

  • How to avoid bear encounter
  • How to minimize bear attractants
  • What to do in the event of an encounter
  • Identifying different bear species
  • Key messages to give to clients
  • How to use deterrents (excluding firearms)
  • Responsibilities as an employee or employer working in bear country
  • How to set up a camp and minimize bear attractants and encounters.
